Free Computer Equipment, Software and Documents
Yes, that right. You can have any of the things listed here simply by
hauling them home from my house (on Long Island). If you are interested
send mail to freestuff AT appletreegroup DOT com and let me know how
I can reach you. I'll also ship anything that's not really
heavy if you want to pay for it.
- Tegra Genesis Laser Phototypesetter
-
This is a beauty. 1000 DPI at 20 pages a minute. It's a big
machine (4'w x 2'd x by 18"h) on a big pedastal base. The
RIP that drives it is a large tower deskside computer (Not Intel,
It actually an NS 32016 running Coherent).
Has serial and compugraphics interfaces. Includes manuals
and spare drums. Original cost as > $40K.
There are two catches.
- It only understands Compugraphic 8600 typesetter commands.
You cannot drive it from a windows machine. You cannot drive it
from Ghostscript. If you are brave, however, you can have my
troff printer driver for it.
- I want to know what you want it for. I have fond memories of
that machine, having made it work from a unix box in spite of
the manufacturer thinking we were nuts, so I want to know it
has a good home.
- 9 track tapes
- I have a box of 10 or so brand new 9 track tapes. Does
anyone use those anymore? There are also a bunch of
used ones with various software on it. A grab bag of fun.
- QIC tapes
-
I'm converting a bunch of old stuff stored on QIC-250 tapes
to newer media. You're welcome to the tapes.
- Software
-
- Visual Basic 1.0 - only useful for you antique collecters
- Enfish TrackerPro
- Borland Turbo C++ suite - probably only useful for embedded msdos
development
Documents
- Interpress Training Videos
- A 10 volumne set of VHS tapes describing Interpress.
Will cure insomnia. I also have a bunch of interpress
related softare (like the implementation conformance suite),
documents and manuals that I would happily give
to an interested soul.
